An ancient city named Bybassos is home to Hisarönü. The ancient Hemithea temple is also located in Eren Mountain. This is one of the must seen places for history lovers. The reason is why they name the place after her name is because famous Turkish singer Emel Sayın was coming to this bay with her private yacht and staying there. Besides that, the real name has another story. İnbükü name was given to this place because in Turkish “in” means bear cave and there used to be lots of bears in the region.

Either you call it Emel Sayın Bay or Inbuku, this place has a stunning atmosphere. If you cruising around Marmaris, this bay i the places that you shouldn’t miss. Datca Peninsula’s narrowest point is Bencik port. One side is Gulf of Gokova and the other side is a gulf of Hisarönü. Even though it is called port, it is a small and quiet bay. Especially in high season this one of the popular spots for private yachts.

Famous historian Heredot has written some stories about Bencik Port. According to these stories from 550 BC. Datça peninsula was about to be occupied by the Persian army. Knidos people found out about it and that was the time they decided to reunite both sides by digging Bencik which is the narrowest part of the peninsula. In this way, Gökova gulf and Hisarönü gulf will be reunited. This is the chance for better defense if the peninsula becomes an island. Unfortunately, they could not manage and so Persians were succeeded.
