Gocek holds an advantage over other harbors for private yacht charter Turkey; in it that it is located only a mere 20 minutes from the Dalaman International airport. Travelers who are not too keen on long distance transfers, choose Gocek as the start of their holidays from Turkey.  This can be quite convenient for families with small children.

There are 6 major marinas in the Gocek region. As such it is not only a top choice for yacht charter Gocek travelers but also private yacht owners who are interested in cruising and sailing the Mediterranean of Turkey.

The town itself is small, quaint and boasting with a high volume of visitors from around the globe – mainly during the Spring and Summer seasons. So it is safe to say that it is a tourism hot spot. However, the local population remains throughout the whole year, as Gocek is also a great place to stopover for travelers by land who are on their way to other destinations along the main highway.

Gocek in the Gulf of Fethiye

Gocek resides in the Gulf of Fethiye. This region is an open passageway for yacht charters in Turkey that are either visiting Fethiye, Gocek or en route to the Antalya region – further to the Eastern Mediterranean. Gocek is also quite popular for yacht charter aiming to visit the 12 islands – or otherwise known in actuality as the Yassica Islands.

Most of the itineraries that begin in Gocek generally venture out to yacht charter destinations in the Turkish Mediterranean. The most popular places to visit from Gocek are the Yassica Islands, Oludeniz in Fethiye, the Caunos Rock Tombs in the town of Dalyan, the ancient city of Simena in Kekova Antalya and all the other little islands, bays, and coves in between.

There are routes that are linked to head to the Aegean sea generally do not go past the lovely harbor city of Marmaris. There are regular weekly yacht charters from Gocek to Marmaris and return. It is a pleasant journey with plenty to see and do along the way.

Alternatively, it is just as pleasurable to visit the town of Kekova and visit the sunken city of Simena where you will notice the ancient Lycian tombs and sarcophagus. This region of history is quite impressive and certainly worth a visit.
