There are always limitations to how much area you can cover in a holiday. However you can still satisfy your travel requirements by how you evaluate the route and itinerary – and still see all or most, or some of the places you intend on visiting. When it comes to renting a yacht in Turkey; the limitations for destination choices are generally based a few basic factors and questions that need to be answered.

Firstly, you need to realize your budget. How much can you afford for that wonderful one week sailing yacht charter holiday at sea? Your calculations have to take into account the rental of the yacht, all your provisions, private shopping, water sport activities, land excursions (if applicable) and  personal unforeseen expenses.

Secondly, you may have some idea of the places you plan to visit. The first question here to ask is, what is the distance in travel from point A to point B?  Will there be enough time to cover this amount of area in a weeks’ time? If not, there are only three things you could do. Lessen the number of destinations and/or shorten the distance; or extend to a 2 week holiday period. A sailing yacht charter in Turkey includes approximately 4 hours of fuel and cruising combined per day.  Therefore when you calculate the distances in between destinations, also the amount of time you will spend in each place, this can usually give you an idea whether your plan will or will not work.

Itineraries are flexible, but to what extent? Again this goes back to the length of your sailing holidays and the amount of territory you wish to cover.

For instance if your charter yacht has a booking schedule to embark and disembark from Fethiye, then itineraries that serve that region will generally be covered.  Included could be the Gulf of Fethiye; Dalyan, ancient Caunos Rock Tombs, Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon), Butterfly Valley, islands of Gocek, island of Rhodes in Greece (a bit open sea), etc. Further east into the Mediterranean region, a gulet sailing cruise can extend all the way to the charming ports of Kas, Kalkan, along with the historical sites of Kekova, Sunken city of Simena, Kalekoy, Xanthos, Patara and so on.  But past a certain point in the Antalya region, it’s all open seas therefore routes do not go past Kas or Demre.

On the Aegean sea region, you have more choice in sailing charters to the Greek Islands as that is where most of them are closest to Turkey.  Among these popular islands are Rhodes, Symi and Kos.

Where will your sailing yacht charter holidays take you to this summer?
