Bodrum Island Hopping to Greece in the South Dodecanese 8 Days 7 Nts

Discover a fantastic yacht sailing holiday beginning in the impressive waters of the Turkish Aegean which will lead you to the many islands of Greece in the South Dodecanese. Experience a new sunrise each morning before breakfast, share the fun with your family and friends in the Greek waters with the many shades of turquoise and blue.  Enjoy all the history and culture that each island has to offer. Then finish off your day with a relaxing dinner while enjoying a different Aegean sunset every evening. Two countries – One holiday.

Day 1

Shortly after your approximate 40 minute drive from the Bodrum-Milas airport, you and your guests will reach the harbor, greeted by your agent and if your private yacht charter is ready (boarding is usually between 15:00 – 15:30 hours), board your yacht to meet the crew, go through an orientation and settle into the cabin of your choice.  Should you arrive early, then arrangements will be made to secure your luggage until it is time for you to step on board the yacht you have chartered.

On the first day, a lovely dinner is served and an overnight stay in the harbor is planned. Should the sounds of the harbor not be suitable for you and your guests, there is a possibility to cruise over to the nearby private bay or cove to spend the night in peace and quiet.

Day 2

On this day will be your first Greek Island visit to Kos. If you have not yet discussed your itinerary from the previous day, then after breakfast this can be done.  Once the formalities at customs are completed, your cruise will begin towards the island of Kos.

Asclepion, known to be the birth place of Hippocrates, ‘the Father of Medical Sciences’, is located here. This island has also been known to treat the health problems of the Eastern Mediterrenean people (Istankoy). Kos is the second largest island of the 12 islands in the Dodecanese.  The region offers a very mild climate and very fertile lands. The island houses a 560-year-old tree, a 211-year-old fountain and a 290 km long beach. If you are also seeking some great nightlife entertainment, Kos is quite well known to offer this excitement and fun.  Nafklirou is a street filled with bars and always crowded and full of life.

Day 3

On your third day you will be visiting two islands; namely Nisiros and Tilos. During the early in the morning hours, your private yacht charter we will set sail to Nisiros. The volcano on Nisiros island – which means ‘the place with figs’- in the Aegean Sea, erupted in 1422 and is still active. Nikea village located on the side of the crater is constituted with white streets and a mosaic style square. You can take an optional bus tour to the crater which is still active and where you can see the gases coming from underground. After a short village tour and a lunch break, your captain will cruise to the island of Tilos.  This is where you have the opportunity for leisure time, followed by a lovely dinner and an overnight stay in the port of this small tranquil island.

Day 4

Cruising to Rhodes early in the morning. Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese Islands. The island is a very popular holiday place as it has one of the best protected and the largest European Medieval cities.  Travelers can enjoy warm weather 300 days of the year. Rhodes has been a home to many civilizations; starting with the Knights of St. John in the Middle Ages, then the Ottomans and the Italians; thus the island has a unique historical harmony and beauty to offer. The main port Rhodes is Rhodes City which bears the same name with the island. The other very touristic areas of Rhodes island are; Lyndos and Kamiros. The city, is still surrounded by 12 meter thick city-walls.  It presents the feeling of travelling back to Medieval times, particularly when you stroll around its narrow stone paved roads. It is highly recommended to enjoy a Rhodes night on the town.

Day 5

The fifth day of your gulet cruise will offer the exciting experience of visit one of the most popular islands in the Dodecanese.  During the early morning hours of the 5th day, your private gulet charter will set sail to the islands of Symi and drop anchor nearby the Monastry of Panormitis, located in the southern region of the island.  You might like to go ashore and visit the Monastery as well as the Museum on this well protected and delightfully peaceful bay.  During the month of August is when you will see the most harbor traffic.

After having a swimming break on the eastern shores of the island, your gulet will anchor at the port in early in the evening. This is a great chance to observe and enjoy the scenic pastel colored neo-classical houses and the peripheral districts. Another lovely trait of Symi Island that travelers enjoy is its pine and oak forests and surrounding unique bays.

Day 6 

The second last day is when it is the start of your return back into Turkey waters.  The first port will be Datca.  There are customs procedures that will be taken care of by your captain and a good time to go ashore for a nice stroll about.  Once the official customs paperwork is ready, it’s time for a lovely lunch on board.  You may also like to enjoy a lunch in any one of the local Turkish cafes located on the waterfront.  Shortly after lunch, the captain will set course to the ancient city of Knidos.  This is definitely a must-see when you are in the Aegean of Turkey.

Knidos (Cnidus) was a city that was well developed in the areas of science, art and architecture. Famous names for ancient history include: Eudoxos, a very popular astronomer and maths professor; Dr. Euryphon; Polygontos, a poular painter; Skopas and Bryaksis of Faros, the most famous sculptors of the era; Sostrates, the architect of Alexandrian light house – one of the seven wonders of the World – and Ktesias the doctor who saved the life of a Presian king from a disaster lived on this island. Dr. Euryphon and his students founded the second largest medical sciences school in Knidos.  The island is also home to the largest sun clock of its time, erected by Eudoksos. Knidos was the home for Aphrodite’s monument and during those times the city was famous for brothels and became popular for sailors and Arabic tradesmen.

Day 7 

In the morning after breakfast, your luxury yacht charter will set sail to the pleasant Karaada in Poyraz Bay and anchor.  Here you and your guests will have the last swimming break in these beautiful blue waters before returning to the Bodrum harbor. After lunch and leisure time, it’s a return cruise back to Bodrum where you will have your last lovely dinner as the sunsets in the harbor and an overnight stay. The sunsets in Bodrum are truly beautiful. The harbor, the gulets, the overall scenery, are impressive.

Day 8

The day your transfer and driver will be ready and waiting for you at the harbor entrance. After breakfast you and your guests will disembark with all your precious memories from an unforgettable island hopping historical and fun-filled holiday in two countries.

Please note that this itinerary is intended for private yacht charters. Not shared cabin charter cruises.
