Orhaniye, close to Marmaris on the Bozburun peninsula, is a little piece of paradise. You won’t find masses of tourism in this beautiful village. This area kept its natural beauty, which is covered in olive trees.

With the second largest marina outside of Marmaris, Orhaniye attracts some stunning yachts, boats, and gulets. When you moore in the bay of Orhaniye you will have a walk over the water ( kizkumu). This is a 600-meter coastline with a great story behind it.

The daughter of King Bybassos tries to escape from pirates but she can’t swim. So she fills her skirt with sand and tries to pass the cove. Then she get’s lost, runs out of sand and drowns….this is the legend. After a walk on the 600-meter coastline, you have a cocktail in Club Mistral. This is a trendy, fashionable beach club which offers you more than you need. Lovely surroundings, a great pool and beside that fantastic service and food!

Kizkumu beach Orhaniye Turkey

Nestled in the picturesque Gulf of Hisaronu, in the Aegean sea region of Turkey is a small village with an array of things to offer visitors arriving by land or by sea. Orhaniye, although home to the largest marina in the region, is a very small, don’t-blink-or-you-might-miss-it sized village, yet packed with something for all ages. While here, there are 3 wonderful things you can do in order to enjoy being in this beautiful part of Turkey.

Firstly, Orhaniye is famed in tourism for the Kizkumu beach (Maiden’s beach). It is a narrow sand spit that stretches 600 meters long. Legend has it that a beautiful princess, daughter of King Bybassos, had jumped into the sea in order to escape from pirates. Not knowing how to swim, she had filled her skirt with sand so that she could spread it to cross the cove.

Losing her way, and running out of sand, drowned. The sand seen today is apparently what is left of her story. As you walk on the sand, the water can go knee deep. From the shore, it looks as though people are actually walking on water.

The second thing very popular to do is hire water sports toys from the providers in the bay. From jet skis, peddle boats, water skiing to other air filled tuggable toys, there is a great deal of fun to be had while there.

Lastly, soak in stunning scenery, sun, and also the peace and quiet – away from the water sports activities.  There are many private coves to drop anchor in Orhaniye. The waters are clean and clear and delightfully refreshing during the hot summer months. I suppose with the last things to do can count for one! 🙂

So why not visit Orhaniye in your private blue cruise travels from Turkey.
